The explorer Major Thomas Mitchell followed the Bogan and Darling Rivers down to this area in 1835 and came across the naturally formed Lakes which he named ‘Laidley’s Chain of Ponds’, the Barkindji people referred to these as ‘Wontanella’ meaning ‘Many Waters’.

Very friendly customer service throughout our stay. The site we were given was great and close to all the amenities. The camp kitchen was the best we have used to date. Right down to the automatic door that slid open when we were carrying

Stayed on a non-powered site. The shower block was fantastic. Very clean and WONDERFUL showers. The community kitchen was very impressive - wonderful facilities, warm heaters and very, very clean.

Outback View Holiday Park

We had 5 nights in this park and we enjoyed its' proximity to the main streets of Broken Hill which we could access on our bicycles. The showers were lovely with lots of hot water and good pressure. The current owners appear to be working hard to upgrade this park and we will stay again next time we visit Broken Hill.

We stayed on an unpowered site and had so much room between us and other campers, there was a fire pit available as well. The location was very peaceful and the facilities were clean and were well maintained. Our Uber to the town centre was $10. The staff were so lovely and friendly:)

Great place to stay. Quite and relaxing, amenities clean and great hot showers. Booked on the day and were made very welcomed. Close to township and exploring tourist spots. Camp kitchen is a fantastic size with lots of room. Pool area looked really good, a plus for the warmer weather.

Plenty of room for van, friendly staff and facilities were fine. Five minute drive to the city centre makes it a good base. Plenty of things to see and do in and around this historic city. We spent 4 nights which is barely enough to see it all Enjoyed our stay.

The receptionist, Devon could not have been more helpful especially with the washing machine 😉 The park is neat & tidy, amenities are clean & hot water showers were wonderful. Close to town and has great views. Would highly recommend staying here while visiting Broken Hill.

I live an hour out of Broken Hill and often stay a night in Broken Hill so I can get some things/shopping done. I've stayed at many hotels in Broken Hill, probably at least half of them. Sturt Motel is one of my favourites. I keep coming back, particularly because of the excellent room quality for the price, including compared with many other hotels in Broken Hill. Also, communication with staff is clear and easy, and its easy to organise late check in if you're travelling.

What a great little home away from home this was! I stayed for 3 nights and loved the thick fluffy towels, appreciated the text messages before I arrived and felt safe and happy during my venture to the outback. Stayed overnight on my way interstate. Communication was great and staff very friendly. Check in process was super easy. Clean, tidy, fantastic hot shower and comfortable bed. I accidentally locked my key inside when rushing out the door to catch the sunrise at Line of Lode and staff were very understanding and helpful.

Sturt Motel is in a convenient location close to shops and downtown and includes a pool to keep the little ones happy. Wonderful for a night or an extended stay.

I have really enjoyed my past couple of stays here at the Sturt. Rooms are recently renovated, very clean and staff do a great job keep visitors informed and are readily available to assist. Road noise can happen but only because of the nearby road going in/out of town. Looking forward to my next visit!

I enjoyed a great one night stop over at the Sturt Motel in Broken Hill. The little cabin was extremely quiet and I had an uninterrupted nights sleep. The lady in the reception was very pleasant and helpful. They provided a 2 seater lounge which was great for watching the TV. No other motel I stayed provided comfortable seating to watch the TV. I would definitely stay there again.

We stay here every year before and after the Mundi Mundi bash and its fantastic. We have stayed in a camp site and in the cabins. Sites are spacious enough and kept well. Cabins are clean and are equipped with most of the daily necessities. The amenities buildings are clean, even when park is full. They are spacious, climate controlled and the showerheads are awesome. The staff are always friendly and helpful. This park is a credit to Aileen and Dave and their staff Eight stays here and yet to have a major problem

The camp kitchen is awesome. TV to watch whilst preparing your meal. There was even kitchen utensils and cookware to use. This was most appreciated as I didn't need to lug my own utensils and cookware from my van. The showers and toilets were also very nice. Very friendly service on arrival too!

Stayed it the cabins on the way over and on the way back on a recent trip. Cabins were clean and comfy. Made overnight stops great. Staff even helped getting transport into town for dinner. Have previously stayed in unpowered sites and found amenities great. Will use again.

Great caravan park. On direct road from Peterborough . Easy access out of town as well. Brand new amenities block with nice hot showers. Jumping castle for the kids and a small pool for the grown ups. Fabulous camp kitchen with TV. Nice van sites with easy access. Highly recommendcthe park.

Highly recommended place to stay. A great clean park in a most convenient location to explore all things Broken Hill. Check in was a breeze. The sites are large and easy to navigate. Our van is 25ft and we’re were allocated a coach site which we just drove into making set up very easy. The park is family friendly and oriented with a great clean pool and a large jumping mat for the kids. It has excellent phone and internet reception and free wifi. The ammenities were spotless and cleaned every day by helpful friendly staff. Unfortunately due to a tragic family circumstance we had to cut our 2 week stay short by a week. The staff were very helpful and understanding. Dave and Aileen in particular along with the lady on the Saturday I advised that we had to leave were very caring and immediately refunded unused account balance to us. I would highly recommend this park to anyone and will most definitely be returning.

Broken Hill Tourist Park

The park is a spacious park with some caravan sites on concrete pads and some on wood chip. They are big enough to take a smaller ’van, awning and car side by side. The play area seems to keep kids occupied and happy. The facilities are new, clean and the showers are without a doubt the BEST design I’ve seen. The only downside for me personally was my allocated space. I have a relatively small caravan and was surrounded by mammoth family off-road vans so my view when sitting out on the warm evenings was the big green side of the next van. I would certainly recommend the site, especially for families, it’s worth it just for the showers. Make sure you have a long power lead.
